Qualla Arts and Crafts turns 70
Cherokee arts and crafts have been done since time immemorial. The marketing of those crafts to tourists and visitors to Cherokee is a relatively new thing in the big scheme of things – having started in gusto in the 1930s.

BASKETBALL: Carolina Blue Devils take 2nd in Georgia
The Carolina Blue Devils traveling basketball team, comprised of area players including several EBCI tribal members, took second place in the March Madness 6th grade tournament in Gainesville, Ga. the weekend of March 21-23.
TRACK & FIELD: Cherokee hosts meet
The Cherokee varsity track team hosted a five-school meet on Wednesday, March 19 with Andrews, Hayesville, Rosman, and Hiwassee Dam. Andrews won the boys and the girls meets with scores of 123 and 148 respectively.
GOLF: Crowe ties for second in Murphy
Cherokee’s Tagan Crowe carded a 41 on Thursday, March 20 to tie for second place at the Cherokee Hills Country Club in Murphy. Behind Crowe’s stout performance, the Braves finished third collectively as a team.

Paul Squirrell – obituary
Paul Squirrell, 83, of Cherokee, passed away peacefully, following a period of declining health, on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 with his family and friends by his side. He had resided at the Tsali Care Center during the final days of his life.
