Speakers Council addresses language partners and core values
The Cherokee Speakers Council met Friday, Nov. 5 in the Tribal Council chambers to hold a televised open session.
Search warrant leads to three drug-related arrests on Veterans Day
On the evening of Thursday, Nov. 11, the Cherokee Indian Police Department (CIPD) lead by a joint task force organized by the Chief of Police which is made up of the CIPD Narcotics Division, CIPD Criminal Interdiction Team, Tribal ALE, and the Office of the Tribal Prosecutor, obtained and executed a search warrant at 234 Fisher Branch Road on the Qualla Boundary. This search warrant was the result of an ongoing investigation and led to the arrests of three individuals.
Cherokee honors those who served
Community members filled the Cherokee Indian Fairgrounds to the brim on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month to honor those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

CHS student selected to attend science, technology event
Livia Lambert, an EBCI tribal member and senior at Cherokee High School, has been chosen to serve as a North Carolina delegate to the Congress of Future Science and Technology Leaders event being held in Lowell, Mass. near Boston on June 29 – July 1.

COMMENTARY: Traditional plant gathering, growing is good for the entire community
Since time immemorial, Cherokee people have harvested traditional plants, such as sochan and ramps, from the beautiful mountains in western North Carolina. Over time, laws have prevented tribal members from harvesting these healthy plants.

The Cherokee golf team took second place at The Ridges Golf Club in Hayesville on Thursday, April 17 by carding a combined score of 200.
SOCCER: Swimmer scores 3 to lift Lady Braves over Swain
Taran Swimmer got the hat trick to lift the Lady Braves over Swain 4-2 in double overtime at home on Monday, April 21.
FOOTBALL: Smith signs letter of intent with ECU
After throwing for more than 6,200yds in his high school career, Raymius Smith is going to be a pirate this fall. The EBCI tribal member and Swain County senior signed a letter of intent on Tuesday, April 15 to play football at East Carolina University this fall.
