The Cherokee High School (CHS) track and field team participated in the WNC Kickoff Invitational at the Western Carolina University track in Cullowhee on the afternoon of Friday, March 24.
CHEERLEADING: Frady signs to cheer at Mars Hill University
Adia Frady, a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and a senior at Cherokee High School (CHS), will continue her cheerleading career at the next level. She signed a letter of intent during a ceremony at the Charles George Memorial Arena on the morning of Thursday, March 23 to join the Cheerleading and Dance Teams at Mars Hill University.
FOOTBALL: Hill signs to play at Maryville College
Kenton Tsisqua Hill, a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and a senior at Cherokee High School (CHS), will continue his football career at the next level.
MIDDLE SCHOOL TRACK: Cherokee competes at meet in Hayesville
The Cherokee Middle School (CMS) track and field team competed in a three-school meet hosted by Hayesville Middle School at the Hayesville High School track on the afternoon of Monday, March 20.

The Cherokee Middle School (CMS) track team competed in the Andrews Middle School Widlcat Meet at the Andrews High School Track on the afternoon of Monday, March 13.
TRACK & FIELD: Cherokee hosts season-opening meet
Cherokee High School hosted seven other schools for its season-opening meet on the afternoon of Wednesday, March 8.
For Cherokee mom and daughter, sports are a family affair
For Tara Saunooke Alexander and her daughter, Katie Alexander, both members of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, sports are a family affair. Tara, a standout basketball player at AC Reynolds and Clemson University, was recently inducted into the WNC Athletic Hall of Fame. Katie just finished four stellar years playing volleyball at Asheville Christian and received a national award.
