The Tsalagi Anitsvyasdi (Cherokee Braves) traveled to the Murphy Bulldogs on the evening of Friday, Sept. 25. FINAL SCORE: Murphy 44 Cherokee 23.

The Tsalagi Anitsvyasdi (Cherokee Braves) traveled to the Rosman Tigers in Rosman, N.C. on the evening of Tsungilosdi (Friday), Duliisdi (Sept.) 18 and came away with a 42-14 win in their Smoky Mountain Conference opener. 

The Tsalagi Anitsvyasdi (Cherokee Braves), representing the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, defeated the Choctaw Central Warriors, representing the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, in overtime 28-27 to win the Annual Battle of the Nations trophy. The game was held at Ray Kinsland Stadium in Cherokee, N.C. on the evening of Friday, Sept. 4.

A ring ceremony was held for Cherokee High School Senior Joscelyn Stamper, who won first place in shot put at the NCHSAA 1A/2A Indoor Track State Championship with a throw of 36’7”.

The Cherokee High School (CHS) and Middle School (CMS) cross country teams participated in the Tri-County Early College (TCEC) Jaguar Jungle Run on Wednesday, Aug. 26. 

The Cherokee Middle School cross country teams traveled to Hayesville for their season-opening meet on Saturday, Aug. 22, and the Tsalagi Anata Anitsvyasdi (Cherokee Lady Braves) took first place in the team contest. 

The Tsalagi Anitsvyasdi (Cherokee Braves) defeated the North Buncombe Blackhawks 66-60 in a double overtime thriller at N.Buncombe High School on the evening of Friday, Aug. 21.  Cherokee’s Kingston Welch rushed 27 times for 208 yards and 6 touchdowns including the game-winner in double overtime.
