The Tribal IT Department of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) and the many tribal programs are still dealing with the aftermath of a network cyber-attack that occurred on Dec. 7, 2019.
Tribe proposing casino in southwestern Virginia
Principal Chief Richard G. Sneed announced plans on Tuesday, Jan. 7 for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) to develop a casino as part of development on a 350-acre tract in southwestern Virginia.

Three to compete for Miss Cherokee crown
Three young ladies will vie for the Miss Cherokee crown during the annual pageant scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 4 at 6pm at the Chief Joyce Dugan Cultural Arts Center. Big Y wins big prize at Extension Awards
The Big Y Community had a lot to celebrate on Tuesday, Sept. 16 as it received first place in the Community Development Awards category at the EBCI Cooperative Extension Community Awards dinner held at the Cherokee Indian Fairgrounds.
