Great Smoky Mountains National Park officials have closed campsite 82 and a section of Hazel Creek Trail after rangers have discovered the remains of an out-of-state adult male at the campsite.

The exterior walls of Western Carolina University’s Scott and Walker residence halls – a pair of nine-story, no-frills, 1960s-era, dormitory-style student housing facilities – are scheduled to begin tumbling down Wednesday, Sept. 16, along with floors and ceilings.

The Cherokee Middle School men’s basketball team has advanced to the Smoky Mountain Conference tournament finals on Thursday, Feb. 6 against the Swain County Maroon Devils at the Murphy High School gym at 7:15pm.
