WCU Health building reopens after state, local officials deem it safe to return to normal operations
Western Carolina University’s Health and Human Sciences Building reopened Monday, Feb. 10 after county, state and university officials found no public health or safety issues at the building in the wake of a potential hazardous materials incident that resulted in its evacuation.

The Cherokee Middle School Braves traveled to Murphy to play the Andrews Wildcats in the opening round of the Smoky Mountain Conference tournament on Saturday, Feb. 1.
WRESTLING: Cherokee loses to Swain
The Cherokee Wrestling team fell to the Swain County Maroon Devils on Thursday, Jan. 30 by a team score of 60-18. The Braves picked up three pin falls, gave up three pin falls and five forfeits.
