CHS names valedictorian, salutatorian
Cherokee High School (CHS) officials have announced that Shalyn Barker and Maya Cruz are the Class of 2021’s valedictorian and salutatorian respectively. In addition to excelling in academics, both young ladies were active during their years at CHS in various clubs and sports.

The Cherokee Braves (8-0) kept their unbeaten season intact with a large 78-38 win over Swain at home on Tuesday, Dec. 23.

The Lady Braves (8-0) played stifling defense in their eighth win of the season.

Glenn Crisp, 66, of Cherokee, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2019, at Mission Hospital in Asheville.
Philip Duke Smith – obituary
Philip Duke Smith, 55, of Cherokee, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019 at the Cherokee Indian Hospital surrounded by his loving family following a long battle with illness.
Jonas Feather – obituary
Jonas Feather, 36, of Cherokee, passed away unexpectedly at his residence in Asheville on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019. Jonas was born in Cherokee; however, he had made Asheville his residence for the last eight years.
