Tribe to provide stimulus for tribally-licensed businesses
The tribal leadership of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) has voted to provide a stimulus package to local businesses in the wake of COVID-19 closures.

12th year for Chief’s Garden Kits
Principal Chief Michell Hicks will be distributing the Chief’s Cherokee Family Garden Kits on Thursday, March 12 at 11:30am at Tsali Manor in the Pavilion for senior citizens with the main event being later that night at 5pm at the Yellowhill Outdoor Gym.

BASKETBALL: Thompson signs with Maryville College
Jordyn Thompson started playing basketball in Kindergarten, and now she’ll continue her career in college. The Cherokee High School senior signed a letter of intent on Thursday, May 23 to play this fall at Maryville College in Maryville, Tenn.
BASKETBALL: Lady Royals win Championship
Basketball players from Erwin; Yancey County; Cherokee, Swain, and Reynolds school districts represented the WNC Lady Royals 7th grade basketball team and won the American Youth Basketball Association State Championship held recently in Concord.
BASKETBALL: Flight wins AAU 9th Grade State Championship
The Flight traveled to Raleigh for the North Carolina D1 AAU 9th Grade State Tournament and came out with the championship trophy.
