The Cherokee Nation has lost nine fluent Cherokee speakers in the month of September.
COVID-19 cluster at Big Cove church
The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) Public Health and Human Services (PHHS) and Cherokee Indian Hospital Authority announced on Friday, Oct. 9 they have identified a COVID-19 cluster associated with services held at the Big Cove Pentecostal Holiness Church between the dates of Sept. 17 and Oct. 7.

BASKETBALL: Braves, Lady Braves advance to SMC finals
The Braves (15-9) and Lady Braves (22-2), both #1 seeds in the tournament, advanced to the finals of the Big Smoky Mountain Conference tournament with wins in the semi-final round on Thursday, Feb. 20 at Swain County High School.
