Restaurants on tribal lands, state directed to close dining rooms; take-out permitted
Restaurants throughout the State of North Carolina were directed to close their dining rooms as of Wednesday, March 18 in efforts to reduce the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).
Museum of the Cherokee closing until at least April 1
After careful consideration, we have made the decision to close the Museum as of March 17, 2020 until at least April 1, 2020.
Opening day of fishing season in Cherokee postponed
The tribal leadership of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) met and made the difficult decision to postpone the opening day of fishing season in Cherokee until Saturday, April 11.

Warriors raise money for Children’s Home, in traditional way
The Warriors of Anikituwah saw a need within the community, and they’re trying to do their part to help. During the recent Cherokee Voices Festival at the Museum of the Cherokee Indian, the Warriors raised $511 that they will donate to help with the construction of the new Cherokee Children’s Home.
Forest Service announces Ginseng Permit Process for 2015
The U.S. Forest Service, National Forests in North Carolina announced that forest visitors have until Wednesday, July 15 to submit their contact information to a Nantahala or Pisgah National Forest district office if they want to participate in the lottery to receive a ginseng harvest permit this year.
