Native America Calling receives National Humanities Medal
Native America Calling, a program of the Alaska-based Koahnic Broadcast Corporation, is a recipient of the National Humanities Medal from The National Endowment for the Humanities. The award was presented to Koahnic’s president and chief executive officer, Jaclyn Sallee, by U.S. President Joe Biden at a White House ceremony on Tuesday, March 21.

CHS senior selected as HOSA regional rep.
Shay Barker, a senior at Cherokee High School, has been selected to serve as the 2020-21 North Carolina Western Region representative for HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America). In her position, she will represent the western North Carolina counties of Buncombe, Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Madison, Polk, Rutherford, Swain, and Transylvania.

The Cherokee Braves (3-0) put up 508 total yards of offense as they shut out the Asheville School Blues 34-0 at Ray Kinsland Stadium on Friday, Sept. 8.

The Cherokee Braves (2-0) put up almost 500 yards of offense as they won the Battle of the Nations game for the second consecutive year over the Choctaw Central Warriors (0-2) on Friday, Aug. 25.

Birdtown Community Building Clean-Up Day
July 12 at 10am at the Birdtown Community Building and grounds. Food will be provided afterwards. If raining, the clean-up day will be postponed to July 26. All community members are invited come out and help.
