Following are the results of the recounts per the EBCI Election Board.
Cherokee’s Eclipse Celebration turns profit
Over 1,200 people watched the frog swallow the sun at the Cherokee Indian Fairgrounds during the total solar eclipse on Monday, Aug. 21. The event, known as the Cherokee Cultural Eclipse Celebration, made money for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and local hoteliers and businesses.
Demolition on old high school to start next week
Demolition on the old Cherokee High School building, which has sat vacant since 2009, will begin next week.

The Cherokee High School Wrestling team competed in the Bearcat Challenge in Hendersonville on Saturday, Dec. 12.

After taking 6th place at the Swiss Bear Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, CHS won two straight matches on Tuesday.
CHS Boys open season at 1-1
The Cherokee Braves opened their 2009 basketball season at .500 with a season-opening 59-47 loss to Tuscola and an away win (61-47) against Highlands.
