It is always an honor to represent the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. I work hard to ensure that I give my all each week to ensure the EBCI is run properly and within policy, while also taking time to meet with the constituents I represent as Principal Chief.

CHS history students visit Old Salem
The U.S. History Honors classes of Heath Robertson and Kelley Canaday took a field trip on Saturday, Dec. 1 to Old Salem.
Groundbreaking held for new Cherokee Children’s Home
The Cherokee Children’s Home was established in 1969 and has been the permanent or temporary home for over 1,700 Cherokee youth over the years. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Tuesday, Nov. 27 on a new $2.6 million facility.

Youngdeer signs to play Softball at Maryville
Cherokee senior Hannah Youngdeer will be wearing maroon and orange next year as opposed to her usual maroon and gold. She signed a letter of intent on Thursday, May 12 to play softball for the Maryville College Scots next season.
Mother’s Day 5K Event a Success
The Annual Mother’s Day 5K walk/run was a success. There were 158 participants with 65 being runners.
