Tribe and region prepare for Hurricane Florence
With states of emergency declared in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia, emergency management officials in the counties in western North Carolina and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians are keeping a watchful eye to ensure that residents are safe with a looming hurricane.
Council passes free press law changes
Tribal Council passed amendments to the Free Press Act, during its regular session on Thursday, Sept. 6., that granted protections for anonymous sources to the paper.
