Cherokee Life Center employee tests positive for COVID-19
The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians Public Health and Human Services and Cherokee Indian Hospital Authority identified on Thursday, Oct. 29 one employee of the Cherokee Life Center who tested positive for COVID-19. The employee is currently isolated in their home.
Missing hiker found in the Park
Great Smoky Mountains National Park officials announced on Wednesday, Oct. 28 that Search and Rescue team members found missing hiker, Fred Braden, Jr. at approximately 4 p.m.

Cherokee High School played host to the 1A West Regional meet on Saturday, May 4, and will be represented in four events at the state meet set for Friday, May 10 in Greensboro.
Qualla Boundary athletes compete at Special Olympics
The Qualla Boundary Special Olympics team traveled to Macon Middle School on Friday, May 3 to participate in the annual Far West Special Olympics Spring Games. The Qualla contingent consisted of 21 athletes and 25 volunteers as well as family, friends and supporters.
Tribal members sign to play college sports
Four Swain County High School athletes signed letters of intent on Wednesday, May 1 to play sports at the next level. EBCI tribal members Will Ferguson and Cody Dills joined fellow Maroon Devils Sean Webb and Tyler Wike at the signing.

Clarence Welch – obituary
Clarence Welch, 84, of Cherokee, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday May 8, 2018. A lifelong resident of Cherokee, he was the son of the late Theodore Anthony “Tony” and Hattie Welch.
David James Kalonaheskie – obituary
David James Kalonaheskie, 87, of the Wolftown Community in Cherokee, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Harris Regional Hospital in Sylva after a brief illness.

Wrights Creek Baptist Church Vacation Bible School
