Services are expanding at Tsali Care Center
Cherokee Indian Hospital Authority (CIHA) has announced the expansion of its Rehabilitation Department to include services at Tsali Care Center. Effective the week of January 20, 2025, CIHA’s Physical Therapy, Wound Care, and Orthopedic Clinic will assume the rehabilitation services for residents of Tsali Care Center, ensuring access to high-quality, in-house care.

Psalm 139 is a great place to put God’s love in perspective. Verses 13-16 are often used to prove from God’s Word that life begins at conception and that God controls our making in the womb.

As we think of ourselves or call ourselves sovereign as a federally recognized tribe, we need to think about the term “recognized” and see if there is a “but” in that term.

Lowery, tribal chairman of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina, released a public memo making accusations of “propaganda articles” and “fake news reports” from the “smear campaign” of the “multi-million-dollar propaganda machine of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.”

FISHING: Over 300 anglers come out for Tim Hill Memorial Tournament
A total of 332 anglers registered for the Tim Hill Memorial Fish Tournament on July 8-9 in Cherokee, N.C. and turned in 111 winning tags totaling $4,350 in prizes. Jeffrey D. Meyer, of Statesville, N.C., and Michael Hepp, of Asheville, N.C., both turned in white tags winning $500 each.
Chase Sneed selected as new Cherokee Central Schools athletic director
Chase Sneed, a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, has been selected as the new athletic director at Cherokee Central Schools.
FISHING: Nearly 600 anglers compete in Memorial Day Tournament
A total of 583 anglers registered for the 2023 Memorial Day Fishing Tournament in Cherokee, N.C. over Memorial Day weekend. In all, 63 anglers turned in 104 tags for a total cash payout of $4,650.

Mistee Lynn Cutshaw, 53, of Bryson City, N.C., went home to be with the Lord Friday, Feb. 14, 2025. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Michael Sooter and Wanda Jenkins.

Charles Edwin Lossiah “Chuck”, 45, of the Yellowhill Community, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2025. A native of Cherokee, he was the son of Little Joe and Jessie Lossiah Watty both of Cherokee.
