Indiana casino protest voted down by Tribal Council
Tribal Council voted down a move to hear the formal protest put forth by Attorney Robert Saunooke, a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, during the regular session of Tribal Council on Thursday, Jan. 14.

GOLF: Braves season ends at Regional
On an unusual cool and windy day, the American Flag towering high over the Linville Golf Club clubhouse thrashed violently in the wind as members of the Cherokee Braves golf team approached the first tee. The practice round from a day prior confirmed the challenge these young men would face on the sloping fairways and crowned greens, reminiscent of the famous Pinehurst #2 course.
Qualla Boundary participates in Special Olympics Spring Games
The cloudy skies didn’t dampen one smile or spirit at the annual Special Olympics of North Carolina Far West Spring Games. Over 250 athletes participated in the event held Friday, May 9 at Macon Middle School.
