Speakers Council addresses language partners and core values
The Cherokee Speakers Council met Friday, Nov. 5 in the Tribal Council chambers to hold a televised open session.
Search warrant leads to three drug-related arrests on Veterans Day
On the evening of Thursday, Nov. 11, the Cherokee Indian Police Department (CIPD) lead by a joint task force organized by the Chief of Police which is made up of the CIPD Narcotics Division, CIPD Criminal Interdiction Team, Tribal ALE, and the Office of the Tribal Prosecutor, obtained and executed a search warrant at 234 Fisher Branch Road on the Qualla Boundary. This search warrant was the result of an ongoing investigation and led to the arrests of three individuals.
Cherokee honors those who served
Community members filled the Cherokee Indian Fairgrounds to the brim on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month to honor those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

COMMENTARY: Tribal member voices concern over DV practice of “first come, first served”
It is the ‘practice of First Come First Serve’ at the magistrate’s office, to file DVPO’s and 50-B’s which starts the process of the criminal side of this issue. The magistrates DVPO Ex Parte immediately grants temporary custody to the plaintiff.
