Swimmer found guilty of second degree murder
A federal jury in Asheville convicted Shane McKinley Swimmer, 21, of Cherokee, of second degree murder late on Thursday, Sept. 9, announced William T. Stetzer, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina.

VETERANS CORNER: Lt. Lewis H. Harding – United States Navy
Lt. Lewis H. Harding, an EBCI tribal member, enlisted June 1957 in the United States Navy Reserve, and he completed basic training at Bainbridge, Md. He was then assigned to the Naval Reserve Station located in St. Petersburg, Fla.
