Tribe grants Museum of the Cherokee Indian land use permit for future Collections Facility
The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) has issued a land use permit allowing the Museum of the Cherokee Indian to operate an offsite facility housing Museum collections, archives, and Tribal artifacts. The permit follows a February resolution that designated a piece of land in Swain County, near Bryson City, for the future building.

Over the past 15 years, the Cherokee Language Program (CLP) at Western Carolina University has compiled and digitized thousands of Cherokee language documents and media files.
Longs named N.C. Small Farmers of the Year
Harold and Nancy Long, the owners of Long Family Farms and Gallery in Murphy, are the 2019 North Carolina Small Farmers of the Year. Harold is a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.

WCU to host open air Jazz Festival on April 26
Western Carolina University’s annual Jazz Festival will feature performers including special guest guitarist and composer Paul Bollenback and will be held on an open-air stage on campus during the late afternoon and evening of Saturday, April 26.
