The winningest football coach in Cherokee High School history has resigned.

EBCI tribal member Dan “The Handler” Hornbuckle faces Ben “Funky” Askren (5-0) in the finals of the Bellator Fighting Championships Season 2 welterweight tournament on Thursday, June 17.

The Cherokee Flight team recently won the USBA State Championship in Raleigh. With the win, this moved Cherokee Flight to the #1 position in the USBA National Rankings.

The Sequoyah National Golf Club will host a junior golf program in July and August.

The Cherokee Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Cherokee Rotary, hosted the first annual Meet Me in the Smokies Open at Sequoyah National Golf Club on Saturday, May 22.
