13 million visit Great Smoky Mountains National Park in 2023
Last week, the National Park Service announced that 400 national parks reported a total of 325.5 million visits in 2023, an increase of 13 million or 4 percent over 2022.

We get bent out of shape over land. I mean downright hateful. And you would too if the history of your people was that once someone else found value of any kind, precious minerals found on the property, rich soil and flat ground, or some other valuable use could be found for the land, it was stripped away from the people. Cherokee youth giving triathlon a go
The sport of triathlon is a tough discipline that involves swimming, cycling, and running combined into one race. Dvdaya, Ogana, and Uweluga Swimmer and Joscelyn and Cambry Stamper, all members of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, participated in the Sugar Creek Youth Triathlon in Greer, S.C. in early September.

Anna Sue (Cooper) Owle, a vibrant soul cherished by many, departed this world on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023 at the age of 90 after a brief illness and stay at the Tsali Care Center. Sue was the seventh of nine children to the late Arnold and Myrtle Cooper.
