TRACK & FIELD: Cherokee opens season at Murphy
Spring had not quite sprung yet as Cherokee opened its 2013 track and field season at Murphy on Wednesday, March 20. The chilly meet featured five teams including: Cherokee, Murphy, Swain, Rosman, and Hiwassee Dam.
Lady Braves postseason honors piling up
The Lady Braves won 28 games this season and came within one game of playing for the state championship. Now, several of their players and their coach have earned postseason honors for their season in which the team won the Smoky Mountain Conference regular season title and tournament, their third straight Sectional Championship and were runner-up in the Region.

Victor Raydean French, son of Mary Lee Christie and Edward French was born May 21, 1964 in Tahlequah, Okla. and departed this life on Feb. 21, 2018 in Stilwell, Okla., at the age of 53 years.
