Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland announced on Thursday, April 1 the formation of a new Missing & Murdered Unit (MMU) within the Bureau of Indian Affairs Office of Justice Services (BIA-OJS) to provide leadership and direction for cross-departmental and interagency work involving missing and murdered American Indians and Alaska Natives.

As of the publishing of this commentary, it is $1,434,353,722,910…it’s probably thousands or millions of dollars more by the time you’re reading this. The website reports that the average student loan debt in America is $37,172 with an average $393 monthly payment.

LGBTQ group hopes to make a difference for acceptance
For many years among the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, being gay, lesbian or transgender was something that was either hidden or something that wasn’t discussed. There was a stigma attached to it, and many just don’t want to discuss it. One organization on the Boundary hopes to change that.

GOLF: PGA Pro-Am held at Sequoyah National
PGA professionals and golf amateurs from all over the Carolinas converged on The Sequoyah National Golf Club on Monday, July 14 and Tuesday, July 15 for the National Car Rental PGA Pro-Am Series golf tournament. The tournament attracted 33 PGA professionals and 99 amateur golfers to compete in the two-day event.
