Cherokee School Board staying cautious as students return
Students returned to Cherokee Centrals Schools (CCS) on Monday, Aug. 16 with an announced enrollment of 1,410 students.
Three arrested during search warrant on Ike Tooni Road
At approximately 4:50 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 13, Cherokee Indian Police Dept. (CIPD) Officers served a search warrant at 91 Ike Tooni Road in Cherokee that led to the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of narcotics, cash, and a firearm.

GOLF: Coach Bradley expects another great season
Coach Sharon Bradley isn’t shy about setting lofty goals for her team at the beginning of the season. After reaching the NCHSAA 1A West Regionals Golf Tournament five times of the Lady Braves’ Golf six year existence, Coach Bradley is confident a Lady Brave will be teeing up in the final tournament at Pinehurst in late October.

In a scrimmage game this past week, Braves running back J.J. Benjamin dropped his shoulder to the right, stutter-stepped to the left and completely faked out a Gatlinburg-Pittman linebacker to the point he had to turn around to see what was going on.
VOLLEYBALL: Young team looking to gel with team spirit
Volleyball is one of the quintessential team sports, and everyone must gel for it to be successful. This year’s varsity and junior varsity volleyball squads are not the most experienced, but they have the team spirit that can make champions.
