The last official census of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians was conducted in 2001. The next one was supposed to have been conducted ten years later in 2011, but it wasn’t which puts the Tribe eight years out of compliance with Section 19 of the Charter and Governing Document.

Legends and Tales 5K draws runners from four states
The Cherokee Runners hosted a special 5K on Saturday, Oct. 11. The inaugural Legends and Tales 5K drew local runners – including the Cherokee High School cross country teams – as well as visitors from South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee.
CROSS COUNTRY: Lambert places second as Cherokee hosts middle, high school championships
Darius Lambert, Cherokee Middle cross country team, took second place – for the second consecutive year – as Cherokee hosted the Smoky Mountain Conference middle school and high school cross country championships on Wednesday, Oct. 15.
JV FOOTBALL: Braves blast Andrews 40-16, finish 2nd in Conference
