Second busiest year ever recorded at Great Smoky Mountains National Park in 2022
Great Smoky Mountains National Park experienced its second busiest year ever in 2022 with 12,937,633 visits. Last year’s visitation was more than 1.5 million above the park’s ten-year average, and more than the visitation of Yellowstone, Yosemite and Grand Canyon national parks combined.
National Park passes will now be required, how to get yours.
Starting on Wednesday, March 1, visitors to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park (GSMNP) will be required to display a parking pass when on Park property.

Carroll James Parker, 83, of the Wolfetown Community in Cherokee, went home to be with the Lord Friday, March 4, 2022. A native of Cherokee, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Flora Lambert Parker.
