The Cherokee Police Commission met at the Cornsilk Complex in Tutiyi (Snowbird) on Thursday, June 13. Chairperson Gene Tunney Crowe called the meeting to order.

“Night of Gadugi” highlights Cultural Summer School
Cherokee culture and language were showcased during the “Night of Gadugi” at Cherokee Central Schools on the evening of Monday, June 13. The event featured art displays and performances by the students who completed the Cherokee Cultural Summer School program.
Christian Veterinary Mission provides services in Cherokee
For two days, pet parents lined up with their cats and dogs at the Cherokee Indian Fairgrounds for veterinary services. Volunteers with the Christian Veterinary Mission, based in Washington state, provided the services on the Qualla Boundary for the first time on June 10-11.

Gourds and gourd artists filled the Cherokee Indian Fairgrounds as The Gourd Gathering held its 20th event on the Qualla Boundary. What started as a group on Yahoo years ago has blossomed into an event that draws hundreds of gourd artists and enthusiasts from around the southeast and beyond.

Glory to God, He has called us to be Trees of Righteousness, meaning, “We’ve already been pruned and trained,” and that it all now begins to happen in the right way and timing.
COMMENTARY: So, we will not decide.
The Tribal Council has spoken. Even if the Chief were to veto proposed Resolution 627, which was initiated by the Office of the Attorney General to rescind Resolution 559 (2023), the margin of the weighted vote needed to override is there.
