Several years ago, when Cherokee Central Schools was transitioning from old-outdated buildings to the new, state-of-the-art school complex that they have today off of Big Cove Road, choices had to be made concerning athletic facilities.

The Cherokee High School track team traveled to Andrews High School on Wednesday, April 6 for a four-team meet with Andrews, Hayesville and Murphy.

Kennan Panther, Braves senior linebacker, signed a letter of intent on Wednesday, April 6 to play football at Carson-Newman University this fall.

Several Cherokee High School players, as well as several EBCI tribal members at other schools, were selected to the Asheville Citizen-Times All-WNC basketball team.

Cherokee Runners held their annual meeting on March 19 to elect new officers and make plans for the coming year.

The Cherokee High School varsity track team hosted the Swain County Maroon Devils and Lady Devils and one runner from Rosman on Wednesday, March 30.
