The Cherokee Braves (1-0) got their 2014-15 campaign going in good fashion as they traveled to Blue Ridge on Friday, Dec. 5 and demolished the Bobcats 77-37.

It was a tough loss for the Braves, who traveled to North Mecklenburg High School for the 1st round of the NCHSAA playoffs against the hosting Pine Lake Prep Pride who topped Cherokee 38-21 on Friday, Nov. 14.
Cooper selected to N.C. Boxing Authority
Cameron Cooper, an EBCI tribal member, has been selected to serve as a commissioner on the North Carolina Boxing Authority which oversees all combat sports in the state.

CHS senior Kendall Toineeta signed a letter of intent on Wednesday, Nov. 12 to play college basketball at Lenoir-Rhyne.
FOOTBALL: Mintz nets 167 total yards in back-up status
Tye Mintz, filling in at quarterback for an injured Brandon Buchanan, netted a total of 167 yards on Friday, Nov. 7 as the Braves (3-8) traveled to Robbinsville to take on the undefeated Robbinsville Black Knights (11-0).
FOOTBALL: Pee Wee Braves runner-up in Cracker Bowl
What a difference a week makes! The 2014 Cracker Bowl, postponed from last weekend due to snow and ice, was played on a beautiful, sunny day at Ray Kinsland Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 8.
