Two members of the Cherokee Braves varsity wrestling team won championships in their division at the Smoky Mountain Conference tournament held at Murphy High School on Saturday, Jan. 31.

Several weeks ago, I was on the sidelines taking photos of the Cherokee varsity basketball teams who had traveled to Murphy.

The Cherokee Braves (18-1) lost their first game of the season at Hayesville on Friday, Jan. 30 as the Yellow Jackets took the win 84-52.

The Cherokee Lady Braves (17-1) lost their first of the season in a hard fought game at Hayesville on Friday, Jan. 30 as the Lady Yellow Jackets won 73-53.

The Cherokee Middle School Lady Braves finished as the Smoky Mountain Conference tournament runner-up as they fell short to the Hayesville Yellow Jackets 47-43 in the championship finals of the SMC tournament in Robbinsville on Thursday, Jan. 22.
