Sneed appointed interim clerk of court
Cherokee Chief Justice Kirk Saunooke appointed Heather Sneed, the assistant clerk of court, to serve as interim clerk for the Cherokee Tribal Court after the resignation of June Ray. Saunooke wouldn’t comment on the appointment.

Principal Chief’s Awards given to Area Students
Principal Chief Michell Hicks gave out the annual Principal Chief’s Awards on Monday, May 16. The awards are presented annually to two EBCI students from each of several area schools.
Dora Reed Staff attends In-Service Training
The staff at the Dora Reed Center attended quarterly in-service training on Friday, April 29.
Grad Student will study and teach Cherokee Language, thanks to new Fellowship
Brooke Bauer, a Ph.D. student in history in UNC’s College of Arts and Sciences, will spend part of her summer enrolled in an intensive Cherokee language course offered by the Museum of the Cherokee Indian.
