Shiyo! It is always an honor to update everyone regarding the events I have been blessed to be involved with. And these past two weeks have truly brought some blessings.
Letts among N.C. Attorney General honorees
Attorney General Josh Stein announced Nov. 20 that EBCI tribal member N.C. Superior Court Judge Bradley Letts and Waynesville Chief of Police Bill Hollingsed received the Attorney General’s Dogwood Award.
Campaign finance practices questioned
While tribal officials of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians have argued for years that donations to political candidates have been necessary to get favorable representation, some have questioned the practice.

Cherokee loses a great educator, Mary Ann Tahquette Widenhouse
Mary Ann Widenhouse was born on May 13, 1933 to Wayne and Nell Burgess Tahquette. She was the great granddaughter of former Principal Chief of the Eastern Band of Cherokee, John Alfred and Elizabeth Tahquette. Mary Ann died at her home on April 5, 2014.
