Park reaches Biodiversity Milestone at 20,000 species
Great Smoky Mountains National Park has reached a biodiversity milestone with the discovery and documentation of 20,000 species of plants, animals, and other organisms.
CIPD Arrest Report for Aug. 26 – Sept. 2
The following people were arrested by the Cherokee Indian Police Department and booked into the Anthony Edward Lossiah Justice Center. It should be noted that the following defendants have only been charged with the crimes listed and should be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. “Dig into Reading” program looks at worms
The “Dig into Reading” Summer Reading Program at the Qualla Boundary Public Library looked at worms and how they are beneficial to plants on Thursday, July 25.
UPS Foundation grants $160,000 to American Indian College Fund
The American Indian College Fund received $150,000 from The UPS Foundation to provide scholarships for tribal college students and $10,000 in support of The Flame of Hope Gala, which raises money for scholarships.
Ford Motor Company Fund awards $60,000 to American Indian College Fund
Ford Motor Company Fund has awarded a $50,000 grant to the American Indian College Fund for Native student scholarships through the Ford Motor Company Blue Oval Scholars Program and an additional $10,000 to support the American Indian College Fund’s Flame of Hope Gala on Oct. 10 which raises money for student scholarships.
