Anniversary approaching of Cherokee’s first COVID-19 case
Later this month, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) will mark a year since the first case of COVID-19 was reported in the Cherokee community.
NCDHHS, EBCI opens Medicaid and Food and Nutrition Services Eligibility Office in Cherokee
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) Division of Public Health and Human Services (PHHS) have established an EBCI/NCDHHS Medicaid and Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) Eligibility Office in Cherokee. The office open officially on Monday, March 1.
One Feather wins 23 N.C. Press Association Awards
The Cherokee One Feather won a total of 23 awards in the N.C. Press Association’s Annual News, Editorial, Photojournalism, and Ad Contest during the annual conference on Friday, Feb. 26.

133-year-old newspaper donated to Museum
The Musuem of the Cherokee Indian received a rare gift on Wednesday, April 20 in the form of a 133-year-old newspaper from the Cherokee Nation.
Stamper completes TERO Job and Career Prep classes
TERO job bank participants attended the first session of Job and Career Preparation and Michael Stamper, an EBCI tribal member, successfully completed the full course which consisted of four classes with the last one being held on Thursday, April 14.

BASKETBALL: Lady Braves rout Mitchell in 1st round win
The Lady Braves proved why they received the #1 seed in the western Section of the 1A state playoffs with a signature win over the Mitchell Lady Mountaineers on Monday, Feb. 24 at the Charles George Arena. Cherokee won big 77-37 behind 23pts by Avery Mintz and 16 by Kendall Toineeta.
