Secretary Haaland creates new Missing & Murdered Unit
Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland announced on Thursday, April 1 the formation of a new Missing & Murdered Unit (MMU) within the Bureau of Indian Affairs Office of Justice Services (BIA-OJS) to provide leadership and direction for cross-departmental and interagency work involving missing and murdered American Indians and Alaska Natives.

The Carolina Blue Devils traveling basketball team, comprised of area players including several EBCI tribal members, took second place in the March Madness 6th grade tournament in Gainesville, Ga. the weekend of March 21-23.
TRACK & FIELD: Cherokee hosts meet
The Cherokee varsity track team hosted a five-school meet on Wednesday, March 19 with Andrews, Hayesville, Rosman, and Hiwassee Dam. Andrews won the boys and the girls meets with scores of 123 and 148 respectively.
GOLF: Crowe ties for second in Murphy
Cherokee’s Tagan Crowe carded a 41 on Thursday, March 20 to tie for second place at the Cherokee Hills Country Club in Murphy. Behind Crowe’s stout performance, the Braves finished third collectively as a team.
