Tribal partners to hold “Eat Well, Play Well, Stay Well” event in Cherokee
The first Play Well, Eat Well, Stay Well event is planned for Tuesday, Oct. 5 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. (or until all bags are gone) and will be a drive-thru swag bag giveaway and raffle at 688 Drama Road (Mountainside Theatre area drive-thru) in Cherokee.
Cherokee Nation announces settlement in opioid case
The Cherokee Nation announced on Tuesday, Sept. 28 a settlement of its ongoing opioid diversion claims case against McKesson, AmerisourceBergen Drug Corporation, and Cardinal Health.
Park celebrates completion of new accessible trail in Cades Cove
Great Smoky Mountains National Park officials and partners celebrated the completion of a trail accessibility project in Cades Cove at the John Oliver Cabin on Tuesday, Sept. 28. The newly-created trail meets standards of the Architectural Barriers Act (ABA) and provides access for visitors of all ability levels to one of Cades Cove’s most popular historic homesites.

Jacobs selected to AISES Board of Directors
The American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) announced the appointment of six new members of its Board of Directors recently, as well as the full slate of board members for 2017-2020. The Cherokee Lady Braves (14-0) remained unbeaten on the season with a big win at Swain on Friday, Jan. 16 as the Lady Braves topped the Lady Maroon Devils 87-35.
