The Gourd Gathering holds 20th event in Cherokee

Gourds and gourd artists filled the Cherokee Indian Fairgrounds as The Gourd Gathering held its 20th event on the Qualla Boundary.  What started as a group on Yahoo years ago has blossomed into an event that draws hundreds of gourd artists and enthusiasts from around the southeast and beyond.

Park to celebrate National Public Lands Day

Great Smoky Mountains National Park is inviting the public to join park staff in Cades Cove on Saturday, Sept. 27 for the 21st annual celebration of National Public Lands Day. Volunteers are needed for this year’s event to collect seeds from native plant increase fields in Cades Cove.
