Ensley chosen as Vice Chief
The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians has a new Vice Chief filling an office that has sat vacant for nearly four months. Alan “B.” Ensley, longtime Yellowhill Tribal Council representative, was selected during a vote taken near the end of Budget Council on Monday, Sept. 18.
Council fails to override “Power to the People” veto
The Power to the People program (Res. No. 544 – 2017) will not be implemented at this time. Tribal Council failed to garner the two-thirds vote required to override a veto by Principal Chief Richard G. Sneed during its Budget Council session on Monday, Sept. 18.

Council establishes Code Committee to clean, condense laws
