Cherokee High School, Middle School spring sports schedules

There is hardly a game that goes by that I don’t take a photo of a play that would overturn an official’s call.  No kidding, it happens just about every game. 

For the second time in the regular season, Cherokee swept Swain County.  In a road game on the evening of Tuesday, Jan. 30, the Lady Braves (11-5) beat the Lady Maroon Devils by 30-points (75-45), and the Braves (12-3) followed suit with a 98-75 win. 

Caden Pheasant, a freshman member of the Cherokee High School varsity wrestling team, won the conference title in the 160lb division at the Smoky Mountain Conference Wrestling Championship at Swain County High School on Saturday, Jan. 27.

In a busy week on the hardwood, Cherokee got wins on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday to bring their record to 10-4 and remain unbeaten in the Big Smoky Mountain Conference. 

The Cherokee Braves improved to 11-3 on the season and remain unbeaten in the Big Smoky Mountain Conference with important wins over Hayesville, Robbinsville, and Rosman in a big week.  

Neither of Cherokee’s varsity basketball teams got off to a great start this year, but man has that turned around.

Kelsey Jackson was a multi-sport athlete while at Cherokee High School and was a proud member of the Lady Braves varsity basketball team.  The Class of 2011 alumnus is currently working to put together an alumni basketball game of former Lady Braves.
