ON THE SIDELINES: Tribal nations should be represented at the Olympics
Like I’ve written about before, my family is really into winter sports.
BASKETBALL: Teesateskie, Tisho named first team All-District
Tori Teesateskie, a junior at Cherokee High School, and Shay Tisho, a senior at Smoky Mountain, both EBCI tribal members, have been named to the All-District 12 first team (western North Carolina) by the North Carolina Basketball Coaches Association.
BASKETBALL: Three Cherokee players, other tribal members on All-Star roster
Three players from Cherokee High School and three other EBCI tribal members at other schools will participate in the annual Blue-White All-Star Game on Saturday, March 17 at 6pm at Enka High School.
BASKETBALL: Coach Mintz, several Lady Braves receive conference honors
Chris Mintz, Cherokee Lady Braves head basketball coach, was named co-Big Smoky Mountain Conference Coach of the Year along with Murphy’s Ray Gutierrez.

BASKETBALL: Coach Hogner, several Braves receive conference honors
First-year Braves head coach Aaron Hogner coached his team to a regular season conference title as well as a conference tournament championship.
BASKETBALL: Murphy tops Lady Braves in regional semis
The Cherokee Lady Braves (19-7) finished their 2017-18 season with a 55-32 loss at Murphy in the 1A West regional semifinals on the evening of Tuesday, Feb. 27.
