One-hundred and forty-six days after the Cherokee Braves endured the rain, sleet, and snow in Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh to best the North Duplin Rebels in the 1A State Championship game, the players received their prize.

Jacee Smith has been named the SONC (Special Olympics North Carolina) May Athlete of the Month. 

The Cherokee boys and girls track and field teams came away with titles in several events as the school hosted the Smoky Mountain Conference track and field championship on the sunny afternoon of Wednesday, May 2.

The 2017 NLL World Champion Georgia Swarm announced on Wednesday, April 25 that Harrah’s Cherokee Casinos and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians has renewed their co-presenting sponsorship of the Swarm for the next three seasons.

Swain County High School hosted the Swain County Invitational on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 18.  A total of fifteen teams competed including: Cherokee, Andrews, Enka, Hayesville, Highlands, Hiwassee Dam, Murphy, Pisgah, Rabun Gap (Ga.), Robbinsville, Rosman, Smoky Mountain, Swain County, Tri-County Early College, and Tuscola.
