The Cherokee Braves wrestling team went 1-1 at a meet held at Asheville School on Wednesday, Jan. 19. Cherokee beat Asheville School 45-24 but lost to East Henderson 36-32.
WRESTLING: Roper gets 100th Win, Braves split meet
Cherokee junior John Roper got his 100th career win in high school wrestling by pinning Murphy’s Danny Shalarb at the :37 mark in the match at home on Tuesday, Jan. 18.
WRESTLING: Roper wins James Orr Memorial
Cherokee’s John Roper won the 171lb. division and was named “Outstanding Wrestler of the Tournament” at the James Orr Memorial Invitational Wrestling Tournament held Saturday, Jan. 15.
