Cherokee Police Commission holds September meeting
The Cherokee Police Commission held their monthly meeting in the Cherokee Indian Police Department (CIPD) training room on the morning of Thursday, Sept. 11. Vice Chairperson Tunney Crowe called the meeting to order at 11:03 a.m.
Dinilawigi General Election Recount held
On the morning of Tuesday, Sept.9, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) Board of Elections held a hand-count recount in the Tribal Council House for the Tsisqwohi (Birdtown), Aniwodihi (Painttown), and Wayohi (Wolftown)/Big Y (Widagalinidisgv) Dinilawigi (Tribal Council) General Election results.
EBCI Public Health expands Public Health Vending Machine Initiative
The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) Public Health is expanding its innovative Public Health Vending Machine Initiative with the addition of two new vending machines, bringing the total to 12 locations across tribal communities.

Isabel Driver knows how important the work she does is. As an intern with the Mountain Heritage Center at Western Carolina University, Driver etched 224 craftspeople into the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts’ craftsman database.
Tribal member working at NASA
Miranda Thompson Meyer, a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI), works for one of the most well-known federal agencies there is – the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). She is one of only 28 members of federally recognized tribes employed there.
Cherokee people revisit homelands at Buck Creek
The Center for Native Health, in partnership with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) Natural Resources Division and the USDA Forest Service, recently coordinated a historic gathering at Buck Creek, marking the beginning of a series of gatherings aimed at strengthening dialogue and collaboration between the Forest Service and Cherokee people throughout their ancestral lands.
