Mary Owl Melquist, an enrolled member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, was born on March 17, 1936 and died in Bellingham, Wash. on Oct. 31, 2016.

One Feather closed Memorial Day
The Cherokee One Feather office will be closed for the Memorial Day Holiday on Monday, May 27. The deadline for the May 30 issue will be Friday, May 24 at 12noon.
