This is a criminal docket date for the Cherokee Tribal Court. All of the defendants listed have only been charged with the crimes/offenses listed and should be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

An inflammatory Snapchat post was put online and started making the rounds like wildfire just prior to basketball games between Cherokee High School (CHS) and Hayesville High School (HHS) on the evening of Tuesday, Feb. 11.
Northbound Spur traffic in Park detoured due to mudslide
Great Smoky Mountains National Park announced that a mudslide occurred along the northbound lanes of the Spur between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 10.

Big Y wins big prize at Extension Awards
The Big Y Community had a lot to celebrate on Tuesday, Sept. 16 as it received first place in the Community Development Awards category at the EBCI Cooperative Extension Community Awards dinner held at the Cherokee Indian Fairgrounds. Cherokee’s varsity wrestling team competed in the Mitchell Duals tournament on Dec. 20-21, 2012. Overall, the team went 2-7, but two wrestlers received medals including Levi Swearengin who went 9-0 on the tournament and made the All-Tournament team.
