Cherokee Indian Hospital to hold Job Fair to address staffing shortage
The Cherokee Indian Hospital Authority (CIHA) is currently short-staffed and is planning a Job Fair to address this issue. The event, which will feature on-the-spot interviews, will be held in the Welch Top Conference Room in the hospital on Monday, July 29 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
CCS School Board Holds June 18 Meeting
The School Board of Cherokee Central Schools met on June 18 in the Central Office Board Room. The meeting was called to order at 4:46 pm by Chairperson Jennifer Thompson.

Modern Cherokee moccasins included in exhibit at Ulster Museum in Ireland
Ulster Museum, located in Belfast, Northern Ireland, has recently refreshed “Inclusive Global Histories”, an exhibition which was launched in March 2022 demonstrating National Museums NI’s continuing commitment to decolonisation, diversity and inclusion. The exhibit will be on display until March 2025.

Lucina Lira is a youth development professional for the Cherokee Youth Center, an afterschool and summer youth program. Lira, a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI), attended the Youth Center as a child, and she now enjoys providing a fun and educational space for new generations.

OBITUARY: David E. McCoy Sr.
David E. McCoy Sr., 64, of the Birdtown Community, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2024 in his home surrounded by his family. A native of Cherokee, he was the son of the late Soloman (Bud) and Winona Delozier McCoy.
OBITUARY: Edmund (Eddie) Catolster
Edmund (Eddie) Catolster, 59, of the Wolftown Community, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, Aug. 4, 2024. A native of Cherokee, he was the son of the late Menoch Catolster and Mary Bell Welch Catolster.
OBITUARY: Larry Douglas Armachain Jr
Larry Douglas Armachain Jr., 42, of Cherokee passed away July 28, 2024, after an extended illness. He was born Jan. 31, 1982, to the late Larry Armachain and Pearl Wolfe. He was a crafter who was very adept at carving, and beadwork.
