Largest Buc-ee’s store opens at Tribe’s development
The world’s largest Buc-ee’s convenience store opened in Sevier County, Tenn. on the morning of Monday, June 26. The 74,000 square foot store contains 120 fuel stations and is located at The 407 – Gateway to Adventure property operated by the Kituwah, LLC, an enterprise of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI).
Lengthy work session held on constitution referendum issues
Tribal Council held a work session, lasting nearly three hours, on legislation seeking new referendum questions regarding the proposed constitution for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. The session was held on the morning of Wednesday, June 21 on Res. No. 627 (2023).

Pipestem named National Merit semifinalist
Parrish Pipestem, a student at Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa, Okla., has been named a semifinalist in the 66th Annual National Merit Scholarship Program.
Qualla Country Trout Tournament winners
The 2020 Qualla Country Trout Tournament was held in Cherokee on Sept. 4-5. A total of 6,000 lbs. of fish were stocked in the days just prior to the tournament on Sept. 1-3 and 217 tagged fish were stocked on Sept. 4 after fishing hours.

Tribal member competing in pro motocross
Motorcycle racing, especially motocross, is a seriously demanding sport on all fronts. Isaac Teasdale, an EBCI tribal member from the Snowbird Community, is up to the task and is currently competing in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship series.
EBCI invites Swarm to host Lacrosse Camp for youth
For the second consecutive year, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians’ Recreation Department, with support from Principal Chief Richard G. Sneed’s office and the Cherokee Preservation Foundation, has partnered with the Georgia Swarm to bring a lacrosse camp to Cherokee youth.
