Cherokee High School instructor faces 7 charges in Cherokee Tribal Court
Travis Climbingbear, 44, a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) and public safety course instructor at Cherokee High School (CHS), was arrested on Monday, May 13 by Cherokee Indian Police Department (CIPD).
Former Tribal Alcohol Beverage Control Commissioner appears in court for fraud charges
On the morning of Wednesday, May 29, George Mitchell Littlejohn, a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) and former Tribal Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) board commissioner, appeared in Cherokee Tribal Court before Judge Monty Beck on six felony charges and five misdemeanor charges:

New Toastmasters Club forming in Cherokee
The Sequoyah Fund will be sponsoring a new Toastmasters Club that will meet regularly in Cherokee. Toastmasters International is an organization dedicated to helping members improve public speaking skills, build leadership skills, and network with others in a small, supportive environment.

The Cherokee Lady Braves (3-0) led the entire game as they remained unbeaten with a big 79-51 win at Swain County on Friday, Dec. 14.
BASKETBALL: Braves, Lady Braves sweep Hayesville in home opener
Following several postponements due to weather and other factors, the Cherokee Braves (1-1) and Lady Braves (2-0) finally got to play their home opener. The teams swept Hayesville at the Charles George Memorial Arena on the evening of Wednesday, Dec. 12. The Lady Braves won 74-59 and the Braves won an overtime thriller 52-49.
