Recently, there has been much discussion in the Cherokee community about crabs – not the kind in the ocean, but the kind who drag others down. 

We are blessed to live in some of the most beautiful land in the world. Next to our people, it is our most valuable and cherished resource.

It’s a brand new year, 2018. I was thinking about a many things the other day and came to a realization. I wish I had some Minions.

The wife and I use an app (short for application-you know, those little do-dads on your phone that make life “interesting”) called Life360. It basically will pinpoint the location of my phone for her, and vice versa, any time of the day or night.

At midnight, Saturday morning, the U.S. Congress could not come together on a federal budget which has resulted in a “shutdown” of “non-essential” government services.

Indian tribes and other peoples have struggled with the concept of free speech since people began to have independent thought.

Over the past two years, we have certainly had our share of controversy and harsh words in the community. Passionate people have been vocal about their passions throughout the year 2017.

As we kiss 2017 a fond goodbye, we remember one of the most eventful years in tribal history. Our community has been on a roller coaster ride of emotion from incredible sadness to incredible elation.
