For as long as I can remember, a day of the Cherokee Indian Fair has been reserved to honor the veterans of the United States military.

I recently read an article in your Aug. 23-29, 2018 paper entitled “Cherokee Language has become a novelty”. It was moving.

On the Swain County ballot in November, the last item on the second page says “Swain County Local Sales and Use Tax – Local sales and use tax at the rate of one-quarter (.25%) in addition to all other State and local sales and use taxes.” 

The Cherokee Fall Fair celebrates Cherokee culture every year during the first full week in October and has delighted visitors and hometown folks alike since 1914.

Not only do men, all men, need to stop behaving in ways that degrade women, when women do bring up allegations, we all need to listen.

Silo may also mean to “isolate (one’s system, process, department, etc.) from others”. A department, program, or even an individual may create a silo for their expertise, resources.

The Washington Post Magazine article, “What Makes Someone Native American? One tribe’s long struggle for full recognition”, misrepresents the views of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians on Lumbee claims of being a tribal nation with indigenous members.

We all agree there are used syringes out in the community, and we are getting kiosks.
