Cherokee Nation develops Virtual Library

The Cherokee Nation is in the beginning stages of developing a Virtual Library of Cherokee Knowledge, a web-based system designed to provide Cherokee citizens and the general public access to a comprehensive digital space filled with authentic Cherokee knowledge related to the tribe’s history, language, traditions, culture and leaders.

Food Pantry gets much-needed Donations

The Food Pantry in Cherokee was getting low on food so the Tribal Benefits Program decided to help out by soliciting donations from vendors and Tribal employees participating in last week’s Open Benefits Enrollment program.

Ceremony held marking 100th Anniversary of Junaluska Gravesite Monument

In 1910, the Col. Joseph Winston Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) honored famed Cherokee warrior Junaluska by placing a boulder monument at his gravesite near Robbinsville. One hundred years later, EBCI tribal members Sierra Wachacha and Jazlyn McEntire placed a wreath in his memory during a ceremony held at the site on Friday, Nov. 12.

Veterans honored at Ceremony in Cherokee

“If we had to choose one word that would describe you best I think it would be faithful,” Ray Kinsland told veterans and community members assembled on Veteran’s Day on Thursday, Nov. 11. “We are eternally grateful for your service, your sacrifice and your spirit.”
